Lan 1 takes on PowerCorp business

Lan 1 combines PowerCorp’s business operations with its own to increase new business opportunities for Channel Partners

PowerCorp operation to move to Lan 1’s Sydney Headquarters with all new and existing business carried out under the Lan 1 name

Sydney, Wednesday 23rd March 2011
- Lan 1, value-added distributor of a range of IP Storage, IP Networking, IP Security and IP CCTV & Access Control products and solutions, today announced that all new and existing business operations of PowerCorp, Australian-based distributor of specialist device connectivity and networking products, will be conducted under the Lan 1 name.

As a result of the merger, Managing Director of PowerCorp, Brian Killin, will close the doors of PowerCorp’s Hornsby Distribution Centre, and will continue his tenure under Lan 1 at their Head Office in Waterloo, Sydney. Lan 1 will also officially take on and support all of PowerCorp’s existing products and vendors including LANTRONIX, BARIX, Perle, GarrettCom and Asentria.

According to Mathew Bertram, Marketing Manager, Lan 1, the merger of PowerCorp is a strategy to fast track the growth of Lan 1’s wired IP Networking portfolio, an area that the organisation is committed to developing on behalf of its channel partners.

“The most successful Lan 1 partners are those that embrace the areas where we are a dominant player. We are the number one wireless IP networking distributor in Australia and the only IP CCTV & Access Control distributor focused on IP-only solutions. Our commitment to our partners is to replicate this level of dominance across our entire portfolio, and we have identified the wired IP networking sector as our next area of growth. The merger of PowerCorp into Lan 1’s business will help to accelerate a dominant position for Lan 1, and in turn, accelerate the success of our most trusted partners.” said Bertram. “We are also looking forward to welcoming PowerCorp’s channel partners onboard. We are excited about the convergence of two highly focused reseller channels and anticipate a large number of new opportunities to arise as a result”.

When asked about the impact to existing PowerCorp channel partners, Killin advised that disruption to business will be minimal, saying:

“Our objective is to make this transition as smooth as possible. All existing customers who have current trading accounts with PowerCorp will be automatically given a trading account with Lan 1. They will still have access to all the products and services previously available from PowerCorp, and all valid warranties, maintenance, services and support agreements will be honoured by Lan 1.”

This announcement comes just one year after Lan 1’s acquisition of TR Telecom’s Broadband Division, a play that increased Lan 1’s already dominant foothold in the wireless networking market, and three years after their acquisition of Blue Sky Industries, which saw Lan 1 take on four additional IP Security vendors and place eleven Pre Sales / Post Sales System Engineers around Australia.

Lan 1 is planning a mid-year national road show where they will be presenting their full portfolio of products, including those resulting from the PowerCorp merger, to new and existing channel partners around Australia. For further information about this event please email
